Application and Acceptance

Is it possible to submit an application and add an abstract at a later date?
Yes. We recommend that you submit a full abstract with your initial application. If you need to add or update your abstract to your application at a later date you may do so via the link provided in your "Application Acknowledgement" email from GRC.
How do I know if my application has been accepted?
If the Conference Chair accepts your application, GRC will immediately inform you via email. Your acceptance email will include a link to a personalized online registration form. Please register and pay as soon as possible before the deadline, typically 3 weeks prior to the start of the Conference. To inquire about the status of your application, contact the Chair directly.
Am I automatically accepted to attend the associated Gordon Research Conference if I have been accepted to the GRS?
No. GRC encourages all GRS attendees to apply for participation at the associated Gordon Research Conference. To be considered for attendance at the GRC, you must separately apply, be accepted by the GRC Chair, and register for the Gordon Research Conference. The GRS and the GRC have separate registration processes and fees. An application or registration for the GRS does not automatically carry over to the associated GRC.

Registration and Funding Opportunities

Does GRC provide financial support?
Yes. GRC offers a variety of funding opportunities for participants. The Conference Chair is responsible for allocating money from the conference budget in support of registration. You are encouraged to contact the Chair directly to request financial assistance. In addition, if you meet all eligibility requirements, you may apply for the Carl Storm Underrepresented Minority Fellowship.

Posters and Oral Presentations

What are the poster dimensions?
Poster facilities differ at each conference site. Visit the Site and Travel Information page, choose your Conference Site and click the "Poster Info" tab for more information. Please conform to these strict guidelines.
When will I present my poster?
Poster Sessions typically take place in the late afternoons on Saturday and Sunday during the Gordon Research Seminar and Monday through Thursday during the Gordon Research Conference. The Conference Chair is responsible for organizing the Poster Sessions and if he/she prepares a poster schedule, it will be distributed to all conferees at check-in.
How do I know if I have been selected to make an oral presentation?
The Conference Chair makes all programming decisions and notifies chosen speakers directly. The GRS Chair will use submitted abstracts to select participants for oral presentations. In some cases, the GRC Chair may also choose a limited number of graduate students or post docs for an oral presentation. To inquire about the status of your request to give an oral presentation, contact the Chair directly.

Conference Site and Travel

Where can I find information about the conference site?
Visit the Site and Travel Information page or follow the link provided on the Conference program web site for more information about transportation to/from a site, accommodations, and facilities.
How do I get from the local airport to the conference site?
Visit the Site and Travel Information page or follow the link provided on the Conference program web site. Specific transportation information for each site is available under the "Travel Info" tab. We recommend that you make all travel arrangements in advance.
Am I responsible for making and paying for my own transportation arrangements?
Yes. All conferees must make and pay for their own transportation arrangements in advance. If the Chair indicated that you will be reimbursed for your travel expenses, you must submit a reimbursement request form and your travel receipts during the Conference. Refunds are typically issued 3-5 weeks after the Conference. Reimbursement requests made after the meeting ends will not be processed.
What is appropriate dressing attire for the Conference?
Appropriate attire for a GRS or GRC is casual. Many conferees take part in outdoor activities during the afternoon free time so it is important to pack appropriate clothing if you wish to take part. It is also a good idea to consider the climate of the area. For more information, you can visit weather.com. In addition, GRC will send detailed site information to you the week prior to the conference.
