Conference Description
The Gordon Research Seminar on Thin Film & Small Scale Mechanical Behavior is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.
This Gordon Research Seminar provides early-career scientists the opportunity to communicate their research to peers in the field of thin films and small-scale materials in the form of oral or poster presentations. The seminar will feature topics such as novel in-situ measurement techniques, materials in extreme conditions, and coupled mechanical and electrical behavior of novel materials, all focusing on the influence of small length-scale on the mechanical behavior. Significant time will be allotted for in depth scientific exchanges. In particular, moderators prepared to stimulate discussion will direct question & answer sessions following oral presentations. Additionally, a mentorship forum will take place, led by a panel of experts from universities, research laboratories and the industrial sector from around the world. The forum will help inform participants of the varied opportunities available in science and provide advice on how to establish a successful career.
