About the Site

Holderness is located in the heart of New Hampshire's Lakes Region just 112 miles from Boston. The campus includes 600 acres of woodlands, open fields, trails and a river. The town of Plymouth is only a short distance from the campus and the White Mountain region is less than an hour drive north on Route 93.

Arrival and Check-In

It is anticipated that attendees will arrive/check-in on Sunday between 2:00 pm & 6:00 pm. Anyone arriving after the GRC office closes at 9:00 pm on Sunday can pick up a campus map and room assignment from the foyer in Weld Dining Hall.

The Meeting Room and Poster Area

Science Sessions are held in the air-conditioned Hagerman Science Building.

Poster Sessions and Socials are held in the Weld Dining Hall.

On-Site Housing and Facilities

GRC participants are housed in dorm rooms with twin beds and shared bathrooms down the hall. The rooms do not have locks and are not air-conditioned but fans are available in all the rooms. Linens, towels, soap and a drinking cup are provided in each room.

There are 70 single rooms available for GRC attendees at Holderness School. Accepted applicants have an opportunity to register for a single room on a first come, first served basis. Once all available single rooms have been reserved, you will be required to register for a shared room.

Dining Area and Meals

All Meals will be served in Weld dining hall. Vegetarian entrees are available at all meals. Kosher meals are available only if the request is made in advance of the meeting.

Internet, Phone and Computer Access

Wireless internet service is available throughout campus and there is a computer lab in Hagerman Hall for use by GRC attendees. There are also four computers located in the office.

Handicapped Accessibility

The site is fully handicapped accessible.

On-Site Recreation

Opportunities for croquet, volleyball, tennis softball, hiking, swimming, basketball, soccer, canoeing, kayaking, squash and biking are available on or near the school campus. There is an abundance of hiking and running trails within walking and driving distance. There is no swimming pool on site. However, participants can drive to a nearby lake for swimming at a minimal cost or walk to the local river when conditions allow.

Other Information

Animals are not permitted on site.

All GRC facilities are smoke free.
