Travel Information

MTR (subway): MTR is the easiest way for visitors to get around Hong Kong. Single journey tickets can be purchased from vending machines at all MTR stations; or the Octopus card can be purchased at Customer Service Center of most MTR stations. The closest MTR stations to the University are Choi Hung and Hang Hau stations where "Octopus Card" can be purchased.

Octopus Card: Those who expect to take the MTR (subway) or public transport may consider buying an "Octopus card" at the Customer Service Center at any MTR station or Airport Express station. Octopus card is an electronic ticketing system that makes traveling in Hong Kong simple and hassle-free. You can simply pass the ticket gates with a simple "touch & go" of your Octopus card. The Octopus cards can be used on multiple modes of transportation: MTR (subway), Airport Express, railways, buses, ferries, trains, trams... etc, saving you the trouble of tendering for exact change. These cards can also be used on most public phones, vending machines, supermarkets, convenience stores, retail outlets as well as catering outlets at the conference site.

The "On-Loan Standard Octopus Card" with a refundable HK$50 deposit (subject to a refund handling fee of HK$9 if returned within 3 months of issue) is popular among tourists. It can be purchased at the Customer Service Centers at most MTR stations and at the Airport. Reloading of the card is also available at most convenience stores and supermarkets in town, as well as several catering outlets at the conference sites. For more details, please visit the Octopus Card Limited web site.
