Conference Description
The Drug Metabolism GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
In this 53rd Drug Metabolism GRC, conferees will be introduced to exciting new concepts and techniques in the field of microphysiological systems (MPS), learn about the latest advances regarding non-CYP enzymes and their metabolic pathways, and review cutting-edge tools and techniques that can be employed to study biotransformation. Session topics will also encompass advances in the field of drug transporters, regulation and expression of drug metabolizing enzymes, and challenges encountered regarding ADME studies to support novel therapeutic modalities. As there is a constant steam of newly marketed drugs, the potential for drug-drug interactions (DDI) continuously increases, and ensuring patient safety inevitably increases in complexity. To address this critical challenge, there will be a session focusing on DDI considerations for people at all stages of life, including how the latest advances in our field can improve therapeutic outcomes and reduce DDI risk. The Drug Metabolism GRC brings together, from academia and industry, seasoned veterans in the field, early careers scientists, postdocs, and graduate students. This diverse and enthusiastic group will share their latest data, broaden their foundational understanding of DMPK/ADME science, and make new professional connections and friendships. The program for 2025 features a wide variety of engaging sessions and speakers, providing an environment conducive to learning and advancing as researchers, with a shared goal of pushing DMPK science forward.
