Merging and Emerging Disciplines in Geobiology

The Gordon Research Seminar on Geobiology is the ideal venue for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers to come together and discuss cutting edge, unpublished research over a two-day period around oral and poster presentations. The GRS has an inherent focus on providing graduate students and early career scientists the opportunity to present in a collegial environment meant to foster discussion, and enhance peer networking.

The conference focuses on how merging and emerging disciplines in geobiology can unravel and reassess unresolved questions in geobiology. As such we seek presentations that will generate discussions on the following themes:

• Co-evolution of environments and life in modern and ancient environments
• Recognizing signatures of microbial activity in modern and ancient sediments
• Examination of geobiological processes through space, time, and across boundaries
• Global biogeochemical cycling through time: insights from classical and unusual isotopes, trace metal cycling, chemostratigraphy
• New geobiology tools, from the field to the laboratory
• Revisiting classic methodologies, techniques, or iconic research locations to answer new questions.
