Advances in Immunology and Immunotechnology: Insights in the Regulation of Protective and Pathological Immune Responses

The field of immunology witnesses a period of extraordinary and unprecedented discovery and advancement in virtually every aspect of basic and clinical research. These progresses are in part the result of technological advances which enable us to quantitatively and comprehensively measure the immune response to genetic or environmental perturbations and to analyze and integrate different data sets to establish new biological knowledge. The objective of the 2018 GRC Conference in Immunochemistry and Immunobiology is to give an update on our current mechanistic insights in the regulation of protective and pathological immune responses and on how this basic understanding may be further enhanced and translated to better and safer therapies for human diseases. The program features nine half-day sessions on the following thematic areas: Initiation and Modulation of the Immune Response; Development, Function and Regulation of Innate Lymphoid Cells; Gene Programing of Immune Cells; Cell-Cell Communications in Immunity; Immune Repertoires; Inflammation and Immune Regulation; Mucosal Immunology; Immunity to Infections; Antibodies, Vaccines and Immunotherapies. As it is in the spirit of the GRCs, the meeting will bring together leading and emerging experts from the immunology field and an audience of approximately 160 participants with distinct, but overlapping interests. As usual, there will be poster sessions and many opportunities for informal interactions throughout the week. Thus, the conference will disseminate ideas and technologies and foster scientific interactions to accelerate both basic advances and translational applications in immunology research. To meet its objective of training the next generation of research leaders, the meeting will benefit from a directly preceding Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) in Immunology. Past GRCs on Immunochemistry and Immunobiology have been a great success and the 2018 meeting is likely to be oversubscribed. Early application is highly recommended.
