Insights into Marine Natural Products from the Field, Lab and Clinic

The 2016 Gordon Research Conference on Marine Natural Products will bring together early career and established researchers from academia, industry, and government to address the discovery and development of natural products from marine ecosystems. Presentations and discussion will focus on diverse topics including the biosynthetic origin of marine natural products and how organismal interactions control production; how natural products modulate cellular networks and present opportunities to treat human disease; applications of natural product research to medicine and marine conservation; and cutting-edge techniques in natural product structure elucidation and synthesis. Presentations focusing on terrestrial systems are also included as many themes are paralleled in marine organisms and habitats. A Gordon Research Seminar preceding the Conference will build expertise and communication among early career researchers, with several researchers selected to deliver short talks at the Conference based on their GRS presentations. The collegial atmosphere of this Conference will facilitate new collaborations, training opportunities for early career scientists, and the exchange of ideas among leaders in the field and new attendees.
