Exploration of Marine Specialized Metabolite Origin, Discovery, Characterization and Function

The 2018 Gordon Research Seminar in Marine Natural Products will extend the tradition of engaging and inspiring graduate students and post-doctoral researchers in the field. Participation in the meeting and presentation of pioneering research will expose young researchers to new ideas, provide opportunities to develop vital scientific communication skills, and foster a sense of community that will enable them to maximize their experience at the subsequent Gordon Research Conference.

The seminar will emphasize the presentation and discussion of research that demonstrates excellence and advances in the field of Marine Natural Products. Topics will span metabolite discovery and characterization, biosynthesis and evolution, chemical synthesis and medicinal chemistry, bioactivity and mechanism, and chemical ecology. Interdisciplinary and translational approaches will be highlighted.
