Conference Description
The Molecular Membrane Biology GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
We aim to create an environment to openly discuss the latest advances in membrane research, including organelle biogenesis, function and inter-organellar communication, always with an emphasis on new methodology. The GRS will feature several trainee talks selected from submitted abstracts and a mentorship component focusing on the different career paths to pursue after a PhD. As a precursor to the GRC, this seminar offers a unique opportunity to network with peers and create lasting collaborations and friendships.
IMPORTANT!!!! PLEASE NOTE!!! Due to extended times for getting Visas for citizens from outside of the US we will have an EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE on 1st of February 2025. We will pick short talks and final participants from THIS deadline. Since this meeting is always oversubscribed, the late deadline will stay open but your chances of being accepted after the early deadline date are small. Please make sure to apply on time and in your application to write clearly which lab you are from. We try to ensure at least one representative from each lab if possible. Also, if you would like to participate in the GRC than please apply at the same time since we make acceptance decisions together.
Application Instructions
The seminar will feature approximately 10 talks and 2 poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the GRS, either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore, all applications must include an abstract.
The seminar chair will select speakers from abstracts submitted by April 6, 2025. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a poster. In order to participate, you must submit an application by the date indicated in the Application Information section above.
Program Format
Gordon Research Seminars are 2-day meetings which take place on the Saturday and Sunday just prior to the start of the associated GRC. The GRS opens with a 1-hour introductory session on Saturday afternoon, followed by a poster session, dinner and a 2-hour session in the evening. Sunday morning begins with breakfast and is followed by another 2-hour session, a second poster session, and lunch. A final 1-hour session takes place just after lunch, and the associated GRC begins later that evening.
An outline of the program components for this GRS is displayed below. The seminar chair is currently developing their detailed program schedule, which will include the speakers they select from submitted abstracts, in addition to any additional components outlined below. The detailed program will be available by May 13, 2025. Please check back for updates.
