The New Antibacterial Discovery and Development GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
Antibiotic resistance remains a critical global challenge, requiring both novel strategies and a reevaluation of traditional approaches to drug discovery and development. Building off work presented in previous meetings, this GRS will highlight: i) Creative approaches for understanding antibiotic resistance, ii) new targets with therapeutic potential, and iii) translational successes and the challenges associated with reviving the antibiotic pipeline. This meeting provides an opportunity to present cutting-edge research, discuss innovative methodologies, and build lasting professional connections with peers and mentors in the field.
The GRS fosters an interdisciplinary exchange of ideas, bringing together young researchers from diverse backgrounds to explore the latest advancements in antibacterial research. Through oral and poster presentations, attendees will share their findings and receive valuable feedback in a supportive and engaging environment. In addition to scientific discussions, the GRS emphasizes career development. Trainees will have the chance to interact closely with senior investigators through mentorship, shared meals, and informal networking sessions. The seminar will conclude with an expert-led discussion on career opportunities in antibacterial research, highlighting diverse paths in academia, industry, and beyond. The meeting is designed to equip attendees with a broader understanding of the field, fresh perspectives on tackling key challenges, and a growing network of collaborators to support their future careers.
