Discoveries for the Future of RNA Biology

The 2016 Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Post-Transcriptional Gene Regulation is a unique forum where early-career scientists can discuss cutting-edge data and new ideas in the field of RNA control. This meeting aims to provide an opportunity for graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and other young investigators to network, establish collaborations, and interact with senior investigators from the associated Gordon Research Conference, which takes place directly after the GRS. To underscore the importance of early career scientists as the next generation of leading scientists, the 2016 GRS theme is "Discoveries for the Future of RNA Biology". An important goal of the meeting is to offer a setting for professional development in addition to scientific discussion. GRS and GRC attendees from all over the globe will represent academia, industry, and government, providing young investigators the chance to explore a variety of potential future careers in an approachable atmosphere.

The 2016 GRS will focus on RNA-mediated gene regulation, specifically genome-wide control of expression, RNA modifications, regulatory RNAs, non-coding RNAs, and RNA-focused avenues for disease therapeutics. The meeting will have a keynote speaker and approximately 10 research talks chosen from abstract submissions describing unpublished research at the forefront of RNA biology. In addition, two poster sessions will enable all participants to present their research and receive valuable feedback from their peers. The overall tone of the meeting will be relaxed and collegial, with the goal of providing an atmosphere where young scientists are comfortable discussing their work and sharing innovative ideas.
