Conference Description

The Gordon Research Seminar on Thin Film & Small Scale Mechanical Behavior - The world of Small: Old and New Challenges is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

In the continuity of the Thin Film and Small Scale Mechanical Behavior Gordon Research Conferences, this Gordon Research Seminar will give the opportunity for students and young scientists to present and discuss their recent research progress and advances in the field of thin films and small scale materials, in the form of oral presentations and posters focused on topics such as in-situ testing and characterization, materials in extreme environments, mechanics of materials for novel applications, and mechanical behavior of one- and two-dimensional materials. This seminar will also include a mentorship component aiming to provide students the tools and advices to take the next step (finding an ideal position in industry, national laboratories).

This GRS will be held in conjunction with the "Thin Film and Small Scale Mechanical Behavior" Gordon Research Seminar (GRS). Those interested in attending both meetings must submit an application for the GRC in addition to an application for the GRS. Refer to the associated GRC program page for more information.
