The 2007 Proteins GRC will highlight recent research on protein structure and function, with a focus on the relationship between observations in vitro and in the biological environment. Proteins will be discussed at multiple scales of space and time, including atomic level structures and mechanisms, larger assemblies, and cellular/physiological context. Emphasis will also be placed on the synergy between experiment and computational/modeling approaches. Most presentations will contain substantial discussion of unpublished data. Exciting late-breaking results will be selected for oral presentation from poster abstracts, and all speakers will be asked to present a vision for the future of their field. Overall, the meeting will provide an interactive forum for PIs, postdocs, and graduate students that seek an understanding of protein function that is both rigorous and comprehensive.
