New Insights into Understanding the Limits of Small

The Gordon Research Seminar on Thin Film and Small Scale Mechanical Behavior is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

The Seminar (GRS) on Thin Films and Small Scale Mechanics is aimed at early-career scientists and graduate students with unpublished cutting-edge ideas. The seminar is a great opportunity for junior researchers to present in front of like-minded peers with ample time for in-depth scientific discussions. Featured topics in this seminar include: small scale mechanics, in-situ mechanical testing, nanoindentation, microscopy and corresponding simulation work for additional insight into experimentally observed behaviors. Attendance will be limited by the number of seats available for the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) held immediately afterward, as attending the following GRC is strongly recommended for all GRS participants will receive reserved registration positions. The combination of GRS and GRC allows for early-career scientists to get an introduction into fields relating of small scale mechanics by providing an environment excellently suited for the discussion of ideas and networking with scientific peers.
