Conference Description

The Translation Machinery in Health and Disease GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.

Studies of the fundamental process of translating mRNA into a protein sequence have greatly advanced our understanding of underlying molecular mechanisms and in consequence their regulation and disease association. Research on mRNA translation involves a wide spectrum of methods from single molecule measurements to the phenotypical characterization of organisms. This GRS will provide a platform where young scientists investigating different aspects of protein synthesis can meet for discussions about experimental approaches, exchange ideas, and start collaborations, as well as obtain advice on possible career paths. We will also have a designated mentoring panel for discussions about careers in academia and industry as well as a mental health component.

Applicants for oral presentations will be considered beyond the initial abstract deadline until December 22, 2022.
