Conference Description
The Tuberculosis Drug Discovery and Development GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
Despite recent advances, treatment of tuberculosis still necessitates lengthy, complex treatment regimens that can result in serious side effects. In addition, we continue to struggle to combat increasing rates of drug resistance to even our newest antibiotic regimens. The Gordon Research Conference series on Tuberculosis Drug Discovery and Development has been making important contributions to the quest for new TB drugs for more than two decades. The key to the success of these conferences is their constant mission to bring together diverse and international researchers from all career stages and fields relevant to TB drug discovery and development, and to present and discuss key topics and challenges inherent in this endeavor in a deliberately inclusive and collaborative environment. This focus has resulted in numerous fruitful discussions and connections, while also promoting mentorship, collegiality, and training for the next generation of researchers.
The 2025 Conference will feature presentations on breaking preclinical and clinical science followed by in-depth inclusive discussions. Extensive poster sessions will also be a feature as well as plentiful time for informal interactions during free time or over meals. The theme of the 2025 Conference – Bench to bedside and beyond- has been designed to combine cutting-edge research on identifying novel strategies and chemical matter to treat tuberculosis, clinical trial design, treatment design and management, as well as patient care and surveillance of drug resistance. Each session is designed to address the challenges specific to the topic and will range from early-stage drug discovery to clinical practice.
We invite researchers interested in all aspects of drug discovery and development and welcome participants from academia, industry, government, and non-governmental organizations. In particular, we invite trainees and scientists from tuberculosis-endemic countries to apply, as their perspectives regarding the struggle against tuberculosis is especially important. All participants are asked to submit abstracts of their work for presentation as posters, and some abstracts will be chosen for oral presentations. The conference provides the opportunity to interact with colleagues in an informal and intimate atmosphere and is designed to promote extensive discussion. In the past, the meeting has been oversubscribed – please apply early!
Deadline for abstracts to be considered for an oral presentation: March 1, 2025.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by March 22, 2025. Please check back for updates.
