Conference Description

The Plasma Processing Science GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.

To support this atmosphere, the whole meeting is strictly off-the-record with no abstract published online and a no-photo policy during the scientific sessions.

The program of this seminar will highlight recent advances in the study of plasmas interacting with materials and the large range of corresponding applications: plasma-liquid interactions, nanofabrication, surface processing, agriculture, medicine, and energy. All GRS participants are invited and encouraged to share their research during the poster sessions. Additionally, several participants will be invited to give oral presentations during the seminar portion of the GRS.

The mentorship component in the 2024 GRS will discuss possible career paths in plasma-based research, ranging from academic research at universities and national labs to R&D in the industry. To facilitate this discussion, we have invited members of the academic and industrial plasma physics communities to share their experiences in a panel discussion.

Related Meeting

This GRS will be held in conjunction with the "Plasma Processing Science" Gordon Research Conference (GRC). Those interested in attending both meetings must submit an application for the GRC in addition to an application for the GRS. Refer to the associated GRC program page for more information.
